Fiddler On The Roof

Tradition can be defined as the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation, passed on to ensure bonding within a specific community.

A work of art that dared to explore the confusing and at times, contradictory depths of tradition is Fiddler On the Roof.

This work managed to tackle such a large, and divisive topic that has both divided and brought together humanity. Pulling from the essence of traditions born from a place embedded in the very DNA of what it is to be human and communally linked to those from the same roots. Whether those roots be born in the very genome of your existence passed down from a family blood line, or roots born from a common purpose or mission bound by a common understanding of the moral fiber of what constitutes being a good person

Fiddler on the roof starts by singing a folk tale about the importance of maintaining โ€œTradition.โ€ Godโ€™s laws keep the lives of the people in balance, and if they didnโ€™t have their traditions, their lives would be โ€œAs Shaky as a Fiddler on the Roof.โ€

By the end, all characters were faced with the startling truth that it was those same traditions that put them at risk of losing everything that they loved.

Do traditions create stability and security or do they put us at risk of losing ourselves and those we love along the way?

Join us for a night of exploring your relationship with Tradition.
