“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.”
– Carl Jung
There is nothing more aggravating or irritating than being compared to someone we detest, hate, or loathe. So the concept that these people could possibly give us insight into ourselves feels assaulting to our soul.
Yet our emotional reaction – be it irritation, bitterness, hatred - to the perception of weaknesses within them is a direct reflection something going on inside of us. Yuck…🤢I immediately shut down to any discussion indicating that this dumbass could possibly be a conduit to my self reflection.
🏴☠️Are these people really our mirrors? And what the fuck does that even mean?
🏴☠️Are we projecting our own insecurities, flaws and weaknesses onto others?
🏴☠️Through our Hatred and judgment of this small and ignorant human could we be avoiding our own shadow?
🏴☠️And could we be holding onto Hatred of them in order to avoid confronting these characteristics in ourselves?
The shadow, or dark aspects of ourselves, repressed can make them prone to projection outward and into our external environment. It bleeds out of us and onto those in our periphery, isolating us from our environment. These Projections can change the world into a replica of our own unknown face.
Tragically we blatantly harm our own life and the lives of others, yet we remain incapable of seeing how much the whole tragedy originates within ourselves. We become the keepers of our suffering continually feeding and growing hate in our being.
It is us who become plagued by the intensity of our reaction to those that we hate. Yet we continue to hold onto the comfort of hate, like a blanket that holds us and warms us with its weight.
Join us for a night of exploring those that you hate. Do they fill the title of enemy or could they possibly be a teacher? Fuck that…they are my enemy.
