“In order for forgiveness to happen, something has to die.
If you make a choice to forgive, you have to face into the pain.
You simply have to hurt.”

Sayings we would stitch on a pillow about the Art of Forgiveness…
Forgive and Forget.
Take the High Road.
And the list goes On & On & On…
Social, Cultural, and Generational constructs of forgiveness have defined the complex human experience relationship with the word forgiveness.
In many situations forgiveness becomes a necessary extension we give to those who have wronged us in order for us to move forward. Forgiveness becomes a need that we grasp at in order to be somewhere else in this life journey. If only we can forgive then we can bypass the hurt and circumstance rendering the need for us to forgive.
We cling to forgiveness, pushing it into maturity before the lesson has even had the ability to root and form. Forgiveness can become lack luster words stated, lacking an energetic break. I forgive you carries the judgement of being more evolved then your stagnant counter part, or perpetrator.
And then when feelings of anger or resentment rear their head, we become ashamed of the forgiveness we did not have the capacity to extend.
